Download Images in Weather Forecasting: A Practical Guide for Interpreting Satellite and Radar Imagery {pdf} by M. J. Bader
This manual presents the meteorology student and operational forecaster with the current techniques for interpreting satellite and radar images of weather systems in mid-latitudes. The focus of the book is the large number of illustrations. Images are matched with conceptual models and weather charts. Written in an image-led mode, rather than in the style of a standard textbook on meteorology, the presentation allows the user to identify and interpret patterns on the images as easily and quickly as possible. Patterns observed in satellite and radar images have been explained in terms of basic archetypal airflows. Examples are presented showing variations on the basic archetypes for many regions. Material for the book has been provided by experts from North America and Europe, and reviewed by people from universities, training establishments of meteorological services and operational forecasters.

Let Them Eat Chaos pdf download (by Kate Tempest)
Let Them Eat Chaos, Kate Tempest's new long poem written for live performance and heard on the album release of the same name, is both a powerful sermon and a moving play for voices. Seven neighbors inhabit the same London street, but are all unknown to each other. The clock freezes in the small hours, and one by one we see directly into their lives: lives that are damaged, disenfranchised, lonely, broken, addicted, and all, apparently, without hope. Then a great storm breaks over London, and brings them out into the night to face each other--and their own last chance to connect.
Tempest argues that our alienation from one another has bred a terrible indifference to our own fate, but she counters this with a plea to challenge the forces of greed which have conspired to divide us, and mend the broken home of our own planet while we still have time. Let Them Eat Chaos is a cri de c ur and a call to action, and, both on the page and in Tempest's electric performance, one of the most powerful poetic statements of the year.

Local Government Budgeting download .pdf by Gerasimos A. Gianakis
In an effort to bridge the gap between budget theorists and practitioners, this book approaches local government budgeting as the internal resource allocation process of a highly differentiated organization that operates in a very political environment, and whose boundaries are particularly permeable during the formal budget process. Written by academics with extensive practical experience in local government budgeting and finance, this text will be equally useful to practitioners, scholars and students.
Theory building in public budgeting has been dominated by political science and economics, and these approaches have not produced theories that can serve as guides to action for practitioners or help them understand their action environments. In order to produce theory that has meaning for practitioners, researchers should approach the subject as it is experienced by practitioners. The long-term financial health of local governments requires an integrated approach to public budgeting. This book develops theory that illuminates practice. It recognizes that the budget process is the only organization-wide process that integrates all of the agencies that comprise the government,.

RNA interference (RNAi) mediated Tomato leaf curl virus gene silencing: Development of RNAi based transgenic resistance in tomato by silencing ToLCV replicase gene download .pdf by S. V. Ramesh
RNA interference (RNAi) is an evolutionarily conserved, homology dependent gene silencing mechanism; an area of upfront basic research, further gaining importance in applications like development of virus resistant transgenics. To explore the possibility of transgenic resistance to the Tomato leaf curl virus,a constraint in tomato production, sub-region of viral replicase gene (truncated rep) was chosen as target for RNA based silencing. In silico analysis of rep gene with siRNA design algorithms and appraisal of rep mRNA, disclosed potent siRNAs and the accessibility of mRNA for gene silencing. Four different RNAi constructs viz., antisense T-rep and three hairpin RNA constructs, were developed and tomato transformed to obtain transformants. Transformation and regeneration of ToLCV infected leaves resulted in regeneration of recovered plants. Interestingly, tomato transformants showed phenotypic anomalies, attributed to the off-target silencing by siRNAs. Thus the book caters to the plant molecular biologists and virologists working on the arena of gene silencing with information on basic criteria for target region selection, construct design strategies and silencing studies.

Porcelain on Steel is an insider's tour of one of America's most storied institutions and shares with the reader what it takes to succeed in the high-pressure, high-performance, high-testosterone lab that produces leaders for the Army and for our Nation. In an era where the American public is saturated with women selling sexuality, this book highlights those who, blessed with strong character traits, use them to make a positive contribution to society. Leadership is a matter of character; leadership is matter of how to be, not how to do it. Leadership is something that is instilled in you-and great leaders in turn instill the ability in others. The women in Porcelain on Steel exemplify this-for all ages and wisdom for all time. Their qualities and strength of character would lead to success in any era but most importantly, their stories are especially relevant now, in today's times. This is a book for your daughter, your sister, your best friend, and most of all, yourself. *** The women in Porcelain on Steel are genuine role models. Download The Great Wave: The Influence of Japanese Woodcuts on French Prints (pdf) by Colta Ives
After Admiral Perry broke through Japan's isolation in 1854, the current of Japanese trade flowed west again, bearing with it the colored woodcuts of Hokusai, Hiroshige, and their contemporaries. Some of the most avid collectors of these prints were the French Impressionists and Nabis, who found in them new ways to treat their own prints. In The Great Wave, Colta Feller Ives, Curator in Charge, Department of Prints and Photographs, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, recounts the phenomenal "cult of Japan" in late nineteenth-century France and reveals through direct comparisons its particular impact on the graphic work of Manet, Degas, Cassatt, Bonnard, Vuillard, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Gauguin. [This book was originally published in 1974 and has gone out of print. This edition is a print-on-demand version of the original book.]

Download Bishop John V. Taylor: The Life and Thought of Bishop John V. Taylor book - David Wood .pdf
John V. Taylor was a missionary statesman, ecumenist, Africanist, onetime General Secretary of the Church Missionary Society, and later Anglican Bishop of Winchester. His work offers a theology and practice of Christian mission which is faithful to scripture while fully facing the facts of the contemporary world at the beginning of the third millennium. Does Christian evangelism promote sectarianism and violence, or can it contribute to harmony and peace in the global village? Can Christians extol the true significance of Jesus Christ without demeaning others? Who is God and how does God's nature shape ours? This book tackles these and other vital issues by giving the first major account of the life and thought of one of the 20th century's greatest religious thinkers. Here is an example and tutor to any thoughtful Christian. Consistently incarnational and sacramental in his approach, Taylor seeks to live out the truths he discovers in his daily ministry as poet, priest and prophet - inviting those around him to share the way of Christ. Taylor is also author of major works such as "The Go-Between.

The Secrets of Chinese Karate was written in the early 60's by Senior Grandmaster Ed Parker Sr. Mr. Parker reveals the amazing techniques of Karate as developed and practiced by the Chinese - the true pioneers of the martial art of self-defense. Mr. Parker elaborated on the theories of various styles that occurred prior to the time of Shao-lin and how they were based on imitating the movements of animals such as, the deer, tiger, bear, monkey and bird. It was surmised that the various animals chosen, depicted different characteristics. For instance, the leopard's movements were used to develop speed as well as strength. Tiger movements were formed to develop the bones, dragon movements to develop alertness and snake movements to develop temperament and endurance. Through the years of experimentation, the Chinese discovered two types of strength-inner and outer strength. Inner strength-denoting hidden power. One such form of inner power was Dim Mak, the study and art of " Touching nerve points" which involved a detailed analysis of nerve points as well as developing the skills of the herbalist-a form that was only taught to.

From the age of Aristotle to the age of AIDS, writers, thinkers, performers and activists have wresteled with what "performance" is all about. At the same moment, "performativity"--a new concept in language theory--has become a ubiquitous term in literary studies. This volume grapples with the nature of these two key terms whose traces can be found everywhere: in the theatre, in the streets, in philosophy, in questions of race and gender, and in the sentences we speak.

Negative Intelligence: The Army and the American Left, 1917-1941 (Twentieth-Century America) pdf by Roy Talbert Download
During World War I, in the period of the Red Scare, and throughout the Great Depression, the army's domestic spy agency mounted an extensive surveillance campaign focused on civilians and groups deemed subversive. Negative Intelligence traces the fascinating and astonishing story of military espionage on the home front.Created by Major General Ralph H. Van Deman in 1917, the Negative Branch of Military, or MI, spied on American reformers in a program of civilian surveillance that surpassed even that of the Department of Justice's Bureau of Investigation. Among the targets were the Industrial Workers of the World, the American Civil Liberties Union, and "Negro Subversion." Documentation of MI's program of domestic espionage is from recently opened Military Intelligence archives.Closely allied with private vigilante groups, the Army conducted illegal raids, made illegal arrests, subjected many citizens to interrogation, and developed an elaborate filing system for its dossiers. After World War I the hysteria continued, with MI's direct focus beamed upon a new enemy, the Bolsheviki.Although MI's abuses have been overshadowed by those of.

Download Imaging The Great Puerto Rican Family: Framing Nation, Race, and Gender during the American Century Pdf (By Hilda Lloréns)
In Imaging The Great Puerto Rican Family: Framing Race, Nation and Gender during the American Century, Hilda Llor ns offers a ground-breaking study of images photographs, postcards, paintings, posters, and films about Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans made by American and Puerto Rican image-makers between 1890 and 1990. Through illuminating discussions of artists, images, and social events, the book offers a critical analysis of the power-laden cultural and historic junctures imbricated in the creation of re-presentations of Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans by Americans ( outsiders ) and Puerto Ricans ( insiders ) during an historical epoch marked by the twin concepts of modernization and progress. The study excavates the ways in which colonial power and resistance to it have shaped representations of Puerto Rico and its people. Hilda Llor ns demonstrates how nation, race, and gender figure in representation, and how these representations in turn help shape the discourses of nation, race, and gender. Imaging The Great Puerto Rican Family masterfully illustrates that as significant actors in the shaping of national conceptions of history image-makers have created iconic symbols.

Physical Methods in Bioinorganic Chemistry Download PDF By Lawrence Que
This text provides detailed coverage of physical methods used in bioinorganic chemistry. Individual chapters are devoted to electronic absorption spectroscopy, resonance Raman spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, ENDOR and ESEEM, magnetic circular dichroism, Mössbauer spectroscopy, magnetism, NMR spectroscopy as applied to paramagnetic systems, and x-ray absorption spectroscopy. The book aims to provide a fundamental understanding of each method and demonstrate how data obtained from a system of bioinorganic interest can be interpreted. Case studies are presented in the last chapter in which more than one technique has been applied to gain insight into each given bioinorganic problem. By integrating theory with experimentation and providing an orientation that is more biological than that presented in previously published books, Physical Methods in Bioinorganic Chemistry: Spectroscopy and Magnetism will serve as an important new text for students of bioinorganic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and their professors.

Download Queer International Relations: Sovereignty, Sexuality and the Will to Knowledge (Oxford Studies in Gender and International Relations) book - Cynthia Weber .pdf
If asked about queer work in international relations, most IR scholars would almost certainly answer that queer studies is a non-issue for the subdiscipline -- a topic beyond the scope and understanding of international politics. Yet queer work tackles problems that IR scholars themselves believe are central to their discipline: questions about political economies, the geopolitics of war and terror, and the national manifestations of sexual, racial, and gendered hierarchies, not to mention their implications for empire, globalization, neoliberalism, sovereignty, and terrorism. And since the introduction of queer work in the 1980s, IR scholars have used queer concepts like "performativity" or "crossing" in relation to important issues like sovereignty and security without acknowledging either their queer sources or their queer function.
This agenda-setting book asks how "sexuality" and "queer" are constituted as domains of international political practice and mobilized so that they bear on questions of state and nation formation, war and peace, and international political economy. How are sovereignty and sexuality entangled in contemporary.

download Mysteries of the Oracles: The Last Secrets of Antiquity [pdf] by Philipp Vandenberg
The oracles are one of the great mysteries of the ancient world. Doorways to the underworld, foretellers of the future, decision-makers for kings and paupers alike, their power and mysticism held sway over civilisations and continues to capture the imagination. Two thousand years after the oracles were consulted by the ancients, Philipp Vandenberg set out on a quest to learn the mysteries of the oracles and uncover one of the best-kept secrets in antiquity. His journey involved 3 years, 15 oracles and countless revelations. The quest and what it uncovered proves at times shocking and disturbing and ultimately reveals a wealth of hidden knowledge about the ancient world: who, or what, really influenced some of the most consequential decisions of the time and fundamentally altered the course of history itself.
